We know that exercise burns calories, but today make it more about fueling your resolve. This year it is about sticking to the plan. Move your body to boost your self-confidence and improve your mood. We want to stick to the eating plan we have worked hard to follow so start building up sweat… For those of you that are too-busy-to-workout, there is a simple everyday solution to your dilemma. Next time you are driving circles like a vulture in a parking structure hoping to snag the closet spot to the store, why not park at the furthest end of the lot and take a brisk walk. Again, you are saving yourself time, keeping yourself from feeling frustrated, AND you get to burn extra calories while crossing of a task on your to-do list. A win-win!

Snack Squirrel
We can learn a thing or two from our cute furry friend the squirrel. Those little critters like to stash away snacks in order to keep from feeling hungry in between meals. Today we should start a habit of stashing two 150-calorie snacks (ideally rich in fiber) a day so it is easier to reach for something healthy. This way we avoid overeating anything that is readily available to us.
A favorite: String cheese, apples with a little peanut butter, or ½ cup of berries

How We Conducted Our Clinical Study
We chose 15 volunteers who wanted to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, bags and fine lines. The 15 volunteers were split into 3 groups, each group receiving various skin creams.
Each volunteer was given a 60 day supply of their assigned anti-aging cream and were instructed to follow the application directions according to each brand. Each volunteer had their picture taken the day before they began using their skin tightening cream and then had their picture taken after the 60 day test was completed.

Drink Away Your Diabetes Risk with Green Tea
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A compound found in green tea could slow or even prevent the development of type 1 diabetes, new research in mice suggests.
Green tea contains several antioxidants that have been shown to curb inflammation, prevent cell death, and possibly even ward off cancer.
In the current study, Dr. Stephen D. Hsu of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and colleagues tested the effects of green tea’s predominate antioxidant known as EGCG in laboratory mice with type 1 diabetes and Sjogren’s syndrome, which damages moisture-producing glands causing dry mouth and eyes.
They fed the mice plain water or water spiked with 0.2 percent EGCG.
EGCG, the investigators found, reduced the severity and delayed the onset of salivary gland damage associated with Sjogren’s syndrome — a condition with no known cure.
EGCG also dramatically slowed the development of type 1 diabetes in the rodents. At 16 weeks, they found, 25 percent of the mice given the green tea compound had developed diabetes, compared to 67 percent of the mice given water. At 22 weeks, 45 percent of the EGCG group had diabetes, while 78 percent of the control group did.
“Our study focused on Sjogren’s syndrome, so learning that EGCG also can prevent and delay insulin-dependent type 1 diabetes was a big surprise,” Hsu said in a statement.
Both type 1 diabetes and Sjogren’s syndrome are autoimmune diseases, which cause the body to attack itself.
Hsu and his team also found that the salivary gland cells that were under autoimmune attack were actually multiplying, but EGCG slowed this proliferation. Such rapid cell division has also been shown to occur in psoriasis.
The current study supports earlier research showing EGCG’s impact on helping prevent autoimmune disease, the researchers conclude.

In the media, Acai Berry pronounced (a-sigh-ee) has been getting a significant amount of attention. Acai Berry is native to Brazil found in the Amazon. Brazilians throughout history have used the acai berry to deal with skin and digestive diseases.
Acai studies have shown to contain significant levels of antioxidants. Most people hear antioxidants and associate it with being healthy but know nothing about an antioxidant.
